It's me. X-tina. Remember me? It's the new year (hello 2010!) and time to make a new post. I have so many things to look forward to this year!!! 2010 has got to be better than last year. I don't know what it has in store, but I'm trying to keep a positive outlook!

Worst day of my life.....
Today was the worst day of my life. I buried my best friend, Lynnette Dunaway. I never dreamt this day would ever come. Not so soon. I received the call last Thursday, May 7th, at work. Since then, everything seems like a fog. I am expecting to wake up from this nightmare at any time now. I just can not believe she is gone. I am going to miss her smile, her laugh, her "hey girl" greeting, her sense of humor and I miss my friend deeply. She was such a unique friend. We could go months without calling or seeing each other and when one of us would pick up the phone, it was like no time lapsed at all. I read somewhere that with each tear that you shed, it's a memory of that person. I have so many fond memories of Lynn. I hope they get me through the hard days. I know she is in a better place and she is with Kameron but its still so hard!!!!

oops....I've been MIA
Where did January go?
Where did February go?
Here it is the middle of March and I haven't posted since the first of January.
SO what have I been up to?
Well....still digital scrapbooking. Which I am totally loving and really addicted to!!! I am still trying to finish our June '08 Disney trip. Here's a recent layout...
About 2 weeks ago, Brett and Nolan got new pets!!! Here Brett is with his.....
Yes....2 gerbils. Even though Jared says we can't call them that. He says they are hamsters. Whatever you call them, they remind me of Shawn Walke....a close childhood friend that died way too young when I was in 8th grade. Maybe that's why I can just sit and watch the gerbils, ahem.....I mean hamsters. They are fun to watch them run around in their cage.
Anyway....what else. Oh! We bought a couch for the formal living room!!! Yahoo!!! Finally....after 5 years in this house, my room is almost complete. Here is my new couch. It took me forever to pick it out. This was the only sectional I found that was small enough for that area. Now I need a new coffee table and some pillows...

Bradley got into a flight at school. I hope he learned his lesson.
Brett is doing great with his straight A's.
Nolan has really improved in baseball this year over last year.
Jared is great. Not feeling well at this moment.
And I am bored. That's why this blog finally gets a post!!!

Happy New Year!!!
Another year in the books. Another year that flown by. I wonder what 2009 will bring. So far it's off to a great start!
I'm been thinking about my New Years resolution. There are alot of things I would like to accomplish this year.
I would like to devote more quality time to my kids. Even though Nolan tells me I'm the best mommy in the whole world everyday, I think I can still do so much more.
I would love to get more organized. Especially de-cluttering.
Will this be the year we finally furnish the formal living and dining room? I sure hope so.
Of course I would love to lose 20 pounds. You could add that to the list every year.
Lots of ideas but I think this years resolution will be to focus on and actually complete Project 365. You can read about it here. http://community.creatingkeepsakes.com/store/products/project_365_kit I was actually one of the lucky ones to get it before it sold out. This concept is right up my alley. Taking 1 picture a day. Starting today.
Today's picture was of the meal I cooked. It is tradition to eat sauerkraut on New Years Day. Sauerkraut will bring good luck to you and your family in the year ahead, if it's your first meal of the new year. Since I'm not taking any chances and I need all the help I can get....that's what I make every New Years Day.
So whether or not you eat sauerkraut today, I wish you good luck to you and yours in 2009!!!

Dear 2008
Goodbye 2008.
It's not that I don't like you. I'm tired of hearing about you. So much happened this year. Matter of fact, so much happened this year that it'll be in the history books for years to come.
2008. The worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. Mortgage crisis. Lehman Brothers. Stock Market plunges. Bailouts. US auto industry. Job losses. All of it. Yes, I'm tired of hearing about it but at the same time, I am thankful that the economy didn't hit my family harder than it could have.
Terroist attacks in India. Russia Georgia war. Images I hate to see.
Okay 2008, you did have some things that were positive. I loved watching the Olympics with the boys. Especially watching Michael Phelps win a record 8 Gold medals! Watching Obama's historic presential win -- especially the acceptance speech was something I was glad to see.
2008, you weren't all bad. I mean, I did get to go to Disney World twice this year! Jared and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. In fact, this year as every day passed, we grew closer together.
So 2008, you weren't all bad. But like I said, since we will be hearing about you, reading about you for a long time, I'm ready to put you behind us!
Here's to 2009! For peace, love and prosperity!!!

...eating lots of cookies and candy
...playing games, especially my new Apples to Apples to go

...watching the boys open their gifts
...laughing with my sisters and brothers
...having hours of wonderful, amazing conversation
...eating HoneyBaked ham
...being woke up on Christmas morning by 3 very excited boys
...listening to beautiful Christmas music at church

Christmas is almost here!
Today I woke up and realized it was December 23rd. I began to panic! I still had several presents to buy. Coupons to use (that expires on the 24th). Food to make-- but first have to go to the store. Presents to wrap. The list in my head continued and continued. So at 8am, I woke the boys up and we were on our way to Florence for some last minute hustle and bustle.
We accomplished alot. Our first stop was the HoneyBaked Ham store. We arrived at a good time as they were only about 10 people in line. By the time we left, the line was out the door. That is one line that is worth the wait! I can't wait to eat the ham on Christmas. Just one tradition we have. After picking up the ham, we went to Best Buy to get a new tv for the family room, then to Dick's where I got some amazing deals and then finally to Target. The stores were crowded but the lines went so smooth. We were in and out with no problems. Of course the boys were well behaved so that helped!
To reward them for being so good, I took them to (expensive) Steak n Shake. Since they need all the calories they can get, they both got a large chocolate milk shake and we all got a "value" meal. $19.67 later and we headed for home.
On the way home Brett said if it didn't start to sleet, it would be a perfect day. I smiled and agreed it WAS a perfect day. Indeed it was. It was a perfect day. I woke in a panic for no reason.
The sleet, freezing rain, ice and bad roads kept me from going to the grocery store tonight. So I get the joy of fighting the crowds in the morning. Hopefully it won't be too bad if I go really early.
Instead of the store, Brett, Nolan and I are laying in my bed watching "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". A perfect ending to a perfect day.
How did I get so lucky???
